Parenting is often described as the "hardest job you'll ever love," but when you add neurodivergence (like Autism, ADHD, PDA, or sensory processing differences) into the mix, the difficulty level doesn't just increase—it changes shape entirely.

This article examines the power of "neurodivergent" as an umbrella term that fosters solidarity and collective advocacy while acknowledging that specific clinical diagnoses remain essential for targeted support. By embracing this broader identity, we move away from reductive stereotypes and toward a world that values cognitive liberty and individual autonomy.

Neurodivergence is a fundamental aspect of human diversity. Current global data establishes that approximately 1 in 5 individuals is neurodivergent. This means that 20% of the human population—over 1.6 billion people—possesses a neurological profile that diverges from the "typical" standard.

This article examines the underlying mechanisms that create and sustain the Invisibility Gap. It moves beyond the symptoms and costs to explore the "why": the structural biases that render neurodivergent struggle invisible to the neurotypical eye.

The inspiration for this article came after I saw an ad on social media for a "cure" for autistic symptoms. It was alarming to see how many people were seeking more information. This post breaks down the biological reality of neurodivergence and explains why a "cure" should not be the goal—it should be effective support though accommodation and empowerment.
